In a bit of a poetic justice moment, 9/11 families celebrate as a drone strike takes down Al Qaeda’s terrorist leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, but they note that more needs to be done to hold plotters accountable.
As RedState’s Streiff reported, al-Zawahiri was killed by a CIA drone strike outside Kabul, Afghanistan. President Biden addressed the nation, saying, in part: “Now justice has been done. This terrorist leader is no more.”
The grassroots movement, 9/11 Justice, which includes 9/11 survivors, family members who lost loved ones on that tragic day, and first responders, told Fox News Digital that this was a victory. They were grateful to Biden for the latest victory against terrorism.
“This is a significant step forward and is particularly meaningful to the 9/11 community as we continue our years-long battle for justice and accountability.”

The group urged Biden to declassify documents about Saudi Arabia’s involvement in the terrorist attacks on 9/11.
“We urge President Biden to continue to stand with the 9/11 community and all those who seek justice by holding Saudi Arabia accountable for the 9/11 attacks.”
According to Fox News, the national chair of 9/11 Families United, Terry Strada, mentioned that she was “grateful for the commitment of intelligence agencies and the military’s dedication and sacrifices made in removing such threats.”
She added that the Saudi paymasters must pay for the damage they have caused, and Biden must hold them accountable.
“The financiers are not being targeted by drones, they are being met with fist pumps and hosted at golf clubs … If we’re going to be serious about accountability, we must hold everyone accountable.”
A senior advisor to former President George W. Bush, Brad Blakeman, whose nephew was a first responder and was killed on 9/11, said:
“It was a long day in coming. It should have been done a long time ago if we had had the opportunity … What really dismays me is the fact that why is the United States always the one to take action against the terrorists when they’re harbored in sovereign countries like Afghanistan and Pakistan in the case of (Osama) bin Laden? Why are these countries giving safe haven to … these murderers and terrorists … So, while I thank the U.S. for taking such bold action, I’m mad as hell that these countries are harboring these horrible people.”
As Osama bin Laden’s deputy in 1998, then his successor, Ayman al-Zawahiri shaped al Qaeda more than anyone. Zawahiri and bin Laden turned the jihadi movements and targeted the United States, which resulted in the deadliest attack on American soil. We remember and honor the 2,977 killed during the terror attacks.
Politics aside, this is a huge win for the United States of America, as another terrorist, who was part of the 9/11 plot, was put in the ground.
