With The House already having a bill pass through their halls, the Senate needed to get theirs ready, too. The difference is, that the Senate already got bipartisan support for theirs.
According to a statement from the group (which includes 10 Republican Senators), the bill will provide “needed mental health resources, improves school safety and support for students, and helps ensure dangerous criminals and those who are adjudicated as mentally ill can’t purchase weapons.”
The deal would provide “resources to states and tribes to create and administer laws that help ensure deadly weapons are kept out of the hands of individuals whom a court has determined to be a significant danger to themselves or others.” As well as “major investments to increase access to mental health and suicide prevention programs; and other support services available in the community, including crisis and trauma intervention and recovery.”
One of the biggest sticking points from conservatives has been school security. When we see these kinds of shootings, we are always caught by how poorly secured the school was. From school guards who run away like in Parkland, to teachers who prop open doors like recently in Texas, the story always breaks down with poor security. While this is a secondary cause of the shootings, it still cannot be ignored. From the sounds of it, this bill will greatly address that.

With President Biden, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) all voicing their messages of support for making progress on this subject, it should be a very scary thing to anyone who believes in the second amendment. This trio, as of recently, could not figure out where to order lunch from, or on a bottle of wine to split for the table, much less something as controversial and pointed as gun control.
Having the powers that be suddenly get along and try to work together on this should tell you one of two things have happened. One, they found enough of a reason to get along because it’s a topic that most if not all Americans can easily agree on. Two, they know that they have gotten enough hate as a group to force them to get along and come to an agreement about passing something.
When it’s the first option, they are quite often doing the right thing. Like passing a bill that exempts the military from a pending government shutdown, or one that provided subsidies for a farmer who lost their crop due to a wildfire. These causes make sense to a vast number of Americans, and there is little reason to speak out against them.
For the second reason, it often comes as a chance to snatch away more power and position from the American people. This kind of bipartisan support comes blindly, but with the idea of it not only securing their position in government even longer, but it will also ensure they get new support from other voters. This doesn’t come cheap or easily. This level of support also means that many voices are ignored, or outright told they are wrong with no data to support their claims.
The patriots of America, the REAL Americans, need to be worried. The days that they have warned about are now coming close. The way the Second Amendment is written, we should not have to do anything to keep our right to keep and bear arms. Yet, at every turn or misuse of the tool, the lawmakers are finding ways to chip away at our lives and make it harder to legally maintain a properly armed status.
Given the tyrannical actions of the government in the last few years, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that they are coming at us this way, or when they try to take even more.
