That Kamala Harris is a big liability to the Biden administration at this point in her tenure as Vice President is something that appears even the White House itself is tacitly acknowledging if recent reports detailing the backroads places they’re having her travel to in the coming weeks are a reliable indicator.
The reasons she’s become a hindrance more than a help to this administration have been documented extensively here, including most notably her failure at making any meaningful progress in determining the “root causes” of the southern border crisis, an assignment given to her by President Biden over a year ago.
But there are others, including her apparent inability to sound like she knows what she’s talking about when she’s giving a speech or interview including when on an international stage, and the occasions she speaks to adults in a bizarre child-like tone that is only eclipsed in cringiness by the odd whispering tone her boss sometimes takes when talking to a crowd.
Unfortunately for BidenCo., Harris’ inability to effectively pull herself together in order to do her job is not just confined to what she does in public. Reports have swirled for months now, sourced by former and current staffers, that have outlined how Harris is a lousy and obnoxiously bossy team manager who expects her staffers to do all the time-consuming dirty work while she gets to take all the credit for it.

Further, it’s also been reported that Harris is infamous for failing to pay much attention to the briefing details her administrative staff prepare for her before she does speaking engagements, and when things go south, she then turns around and blames them when she comes off looking like a fool and woefully out of her depth.
So it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that Harris, who is not even popular in her own state, has had notoriously high turnover rates, including when she was California Attorney General, a Senator, and then a presidential candidate. The amount of aides that have resigned in the last 12 months has been pretty remarkable, especially when one considers how many of them have been senior-level members of her staff, people you’d think would be loyal to the end but who instead have been all too eager to move on to greener pastures.
The latest example is Harris’ chief of staff Tina Flournoy, who it was announced today is stepping down from her position:
Vice President Kamala Harris’ chief of staff Tina Flournoy is leaving her position after 15 months — joining a growing list of Harris aides who have called it quits over the past year.
Flournoy led Harris’ team through a turbulent period punctuated by reported tensions with West Wing staff and vexing tasks given by President Biden to his No. 2., such as reducing illegal immigration and passing federal election reforms.
“Tina has been a valued advisor and confidant to me and tremendous leader for the office,” Harris said in a statement.
“From day 1, she led our team during a historic first year as we made progress rebuilding our economy here at home and our alliances around the world. Tina is the consummate public servant and I will continue to rely on her advice, counsel and friendship.”
The reason Flournoy is bowing out wasn’t made public.
Given Harris’ reputation for being extremely difficult to work for and with makes the exodus of staffers understandable and perhaps expected, but in my opinion what’s more at play here is how many of them are likely leaving because they see the SS Kamala sinking and don’t want to go down with it. Who could blame them?
