The FBI has been looking into a variety of different actions of Hunter Biden for a few years now and witnesses have been brought before the grand jury including regarding his foreign entanglements, so the investigation may finally be coming to a head.
But the problem is: Can we be assured of a true investigation when Joe Biden is in charge and we’ve already seen how much he has lied about the situation?
Just last week, White House communications director Kate Bedingfield claimed that Joe Biden stood by his prior statement that his son had done “nothing that was unethical” and hadn’t “made money” regarding China.
Yet, as we’ve noted, this is just demonstrably false based on the evidence that has already been adduced from the laptop, including the financial records that Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) displayed on the Senate floor last week, confirming that $100,000 had been paid to an account for Hunter’s firm from CEFC, which Grassley termed connected to the Chinese government. There was also a line of credit established on the account that members of the Biden family used to go on a global spending spree. As we noted, not only did that relationship with CEFC have problematic ties to China, but CEFC also had connections to Kremlin-controlled companies.

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley notes how the media is now shifting to a new narrative that, while the laptop is true, there’s nothing to connect Joe Biden to any wrongdoing. Yet there are mentions all over the laptop of Joe Biden, including Hunter paying his bills.
In one email, Tony Bobulinski, then a business partner of Hunter’s, was instructed by Biden associate James Gilliar not to speak of the former veep’s connection to any transactions: “Don’t mention Joe being involved, it’s only when u [sic] are face to face, I know u [sic] know that but they are paranoid.”
Instead, the emails apparently refer to President Biden with code names such as “Celtic” or “the big guy.” In one, “the big guy” is discussed as possibly receiving a 10 percent cut on a deal with a Chinese energy firm; other emails reportedly refer to Hunter Biden paying portions of his father’s expenses and taxes.
Despite President Biden’s repeated claims he knew nothing about these dealings, Bobulinski has said he personally met with the senior Biden to discuss Hunter Biden’s business activities. Bobulinski had been selected by the family to handle these deals.
As vice president, Joe Biden flew to China on Air Force Two with Hunter Biden, who arranged for his father to meet some of his business interests. Hunter Biden’s financial interest in a Chinese-backed investment firm, BHR Partners, was registered within weeks of that 2013 trip. Yet, President Biden repeatedly insisted that he never discussed such dealings with his son, a claim Hunter Biden has contradicted.
“It is hard to imagine a stronger case for a special counsel,” Turley concluded, observing that any investigation would inherently bump against all these conflicts involving Joe Biden while Joe Biden has denied that his son made any money from China or did anything wrong.
Turley continued:
Garland pledged to protect the Justice Department from such conflicts and to avoid even the appearance of political influence. He now has a president stating that alleged wrongdoing by his son is “absolutely” untrue, including dealings possibly impacting the president personally and financially. If Garland declines to appoint a special counsel, he will absolutely fail on his pledge.
That conflict may get even more visibility this week because Sen. Grassley has promised they will have more information dropping this week. He said their concern was possible blackmail points from foreign governments like China.
So grab the popcorn and pull up a seat, more will be coming. It’s getting harder and harder for the “big guy.”
